Melanie Brock AM is a highly respected business leader and one of Australia’s foremost specialists on Japan. She brings extensive experience in executive leadership and strategic advisory roles across a wide range of sectors, underpinned by deep cross-cultural expertise, strong language capabilities, and an influential network spanning government, media, and business in both Australia and Japan.

In recognition of her significant contribution to strengthening Australia–Japan relations, Melanie was conferred the prestigious Japanese honour of the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon in 2026; was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in 2022 and was awarded the Japanese Foreign Minister’s Commendation in 2020.

Melanie has worked closely with regional governments in Tohoku and national stakeholders in Japan on initiatives spanning sports diplomacy - including during the 2019 Rugby World Cup - youth development, and programs supporting women in regional communities.

Her leadership roles include serving as Head Delegate for Australia’s W20 delegation in 2021. She currently holds non-executive director positions with major Japanese corporations, including Asahi Group Holdings, Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Mitsubishi Estate, and Sega Sammy Holdings. She is also Chair Emeritus of the Australia & New Zealand Chamber of Commerce in Japan and a Senior Advisor to Bondi Partners.

A passionate advocate for gender equality and women’s leadership, Melanie is the founder of Celebrating Women in Japan and the Women of WA initiative. She has also been actively involved in reconstruction efforts in Tohoku following the 2011 earthquake, receiving honorary ambassadorships from several municipalities in recognition of her contributions.

Melanie is a media commentator, regularly contributing to leading outlets including the Australian Financial Review, Nikkei Asia, and the ABC.

ジェンダー平等と女性リーダーシップの推進に情熱を注ぐメラニーは、「Celebrating Women in Japan」および「Women of WA」イニシアチブの創設者でもあります。また、2011年の東日本大震災後の東北復興支援にも積極的に関わり、その貢献が評価され、複数の自治体から名誉大使に任命されています。
