Sally Townsend is the South Australian Government’s Regional Director for Japan and Korea, within the Department for State Development, based at the Australian Embassy in Tokyo. Hailing from Adelaide, South Australia, Sally is a long-term resident of Japan and has been in her current role for 6 years, representing South Australian companies in market or assisting Japanese and Korean companies to invest or do business in South Australia, covering key industries ranging from Space, to Energy, and Life Sciences. 

Sally is a graduate of Nihon University and worked in the wine and luxury lifestyle sectors before establishing South Australia’s NEA presence in 2019. She has long been active in the Australian community in Japan; as President of the Australia Society Tokyo for a number of years, running social events and fundraising for various charities in Japan, and as a member of the Australian and New Zealand Chamber of Commerce in Japan for over 12 years, where she was Chair of the Chamber from 2019 to 2025.

南オーストラリア州政府 州開発省の日本・韓国地域代表（リージョナル・ディレクター）であり、東京の駐日オーストラリア大使館を拠点に活動。

南オーストラリア州アデレード出身で、長年にわたり日本に在住。現職を6年間務めており、南オーストラリア州企業の日本・韓国市場への進出支援や、両国の企業による同州への投資・ビジネス展開のサポートを行っている。対象とする主要産業は、宇宙、エネルギー、ライフサイエンスなど多岐にわたる。

日本大学を卒業後、ワインおよびラグジュアリー・ライフスタイル分野でのキャリアを経て、2019年に南オーストラリア州の北東アジア（NEA）拠点を立ち上げた。在日オーストラリア人コミュニティの活動にも長年尽力しており、東京オーストラリア協会（Australia Society Tokyo）の会長を数年間務め、親睦イベントの運営や日本国内の様々な慈善団体への募金活動を牽引。また、在日オーストラリア・ニュージーランド商工会議所（ANZCCJ）に12年以上在籍し、2019年から2025年までは会頭（Chair）を務めた。
